THE TYPES OF INFORMATION WE COLLECT

The Personal Information we collect may vary depending on the purpose for which you provide it, and may include one or more of the following: name, mailing address, email address, phone number, credit card information including number, expiration date, billing address, and location data.
We also collect "Usage Data," which refers to information gathered automatically from this Site or from third-party services used in connection with this Site. STUDENT DATA & EDUCATIONAL PRIVACY (FERPA/NH SOPA COMPLIANCE)
Major Choice provides specialized Pathfinding services to educational institutions and agencies. When we enter into agreements with a Local Education Agency (LEA) or school district, we operate as a "School Official" with a legitimate educational interest.
• FERPA Compliance: We handle all Student Data in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). We do not use Student Data for targeted advertising, data mining, or any purpose other than providing services to the student and the district.
• Data Ownership: All Student Data remains the property of and under the control of the respective LEA.
• Security Standards (NIST/SOC2): Our student-facing platforms, including Google Cloud (AppSheet) and ClickUp, maintain rigorous security certifications, including SOC 2 Type 2 and NIST frameworks. All data is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.2+).
• Access Control: Access to student records is strictly limited to authorized Major Choice Mentors and Administrators. All administrative access requires Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
• Staff Training: All Major Choice personnel undergo data privacy training and sign formal confidentiality agreements before accessing student information.
• Data Destruction: Upon termination of a service agreement or at the written request of the LEA, we securely delete or return Student Data in accordance with our contractual and statutory obligations.
HOW AND WHEN WE COLLECT INFORMATION
We collect Personal Information at the time you provide it to us. This occurs through sign-up forms, account registrations, purchases, promotions, or contests on this Site. In addition, we may collect Personal Information from your communications with us, including emails, phone calls, text messages, faxes, and postal mail, as well as from external sources such as vendors and databases. Usage Data may be collected passively as you navigate the Site, through technologies such as cookies, web beacons, and analytics tools.
We also collect Personal Information when you subscribe to receive information from us or join our mailing list. In such cases, we may receive your details from email service providers or autoresponder services.
